I Never Saw Him again
I often visited the lonely restaurant of my neighborhood at Tinkune.
‘Cakes and Bakes’ it was called. I had tea time there in one corner of the
restaurant every afternoon, at about 3 p.m., a young lady of 20 came there. She
sat beside me on another chair. Her long hair and charming face had already
troubled me. However, I had kept my patience.
I felt that she was also looking
at me with tilted eyes. The first day ended with single impression. The second
time she was again there. This time she was in the same table just opposite to
me. We introduced to each other. She was Roopa K.C. She worked in Rastriya
Banijya Bank at local branch. I admired her beauty and voice.
Thereafter, we became close friends. I frequently went to
the bank to meet her. We visited different places together. She promised me
that she would be mini for ever. I was quite lost in dream. One whole year
passed together. Then it was Sunday of winter again. We were again in the same
corner of the restaurant. A man of about my age came there. She was totally
upset. When the man came closer, she introduced me to him. I saw her face was
pale, and all limbs were trembling. He was her husband. I missed her. I never
saw her again.
